Tor v3 onion service

Tor is bundled with Moneta and starts automatically. No separate app, account, domain, public IP or port forwarding is required.

STARTINGAuthenticated onion routing
1 · CREATEPersistent node identityThe private onion key stays in this node’s data directory.
2 · CONNECTOutbound Tor circuitsCGNAT permits these ordinary outbound connections.
3 · SYNCFull-chain validationPeers exchange candidate chains; every block is independently verified.
ONION ENDPOINTGenerating this node’s persistent v3 onion addressThe validator stays healthy while Tor bootstraps.

Tor is transport, not consensus. Chain ID, genesis, version, proof-of-work and the complete candidate chain are still validated.

OPTIONAL MIGRATION FALLBACK

Tailscale Funnel

The existing first seed remains usable during the Tor migration. Tailscale is optional and is no longer required to run a CGNAT node.

CHECKINGDetecting optional Tailscale…
1 · OPTIONALTailscale desktopSkip this when using built-in Tor.
2 · SIGN INChecking…Authentication stays inside Tailscale.
3 · AUTO-PUBLISHHTTPS :443 → node :9333Existing public clients can use this fallback.
OPTIONAL PUBLIC ENDPOINTTailscale is not requiredThe node never overwrites another service already using Tailscale HTTPS port 443.
